Big Pedal 2021

The Sustrans Big Pedal event is back for 2021! The UK’s largest inter-school cycling, walking, wheeling and scooting challenge will take place from the 19 – 30 April.

The Big Pedal will see young people across the UK compete against each other to make the most journeys by cycling, walking, scooting or using a wheelchair, supervised by a parent or guardian.

The 2019 Big Pedal event saw 3.8 million journeys be recorded by bike, foot or scooter, and 2021 promises to be an even bigger event.

This year’s theme ‘Amazing Journeys’ is all about encouraging young people to see their local area from a new perspective and learn about the benefits of active travel.

Big Pedal 2021 is taking a more flexible approach this year with the COVID-19 Pandemic in mind. Active journeys taken from home or physical activity completed at home will count as one journey in the challenge for pupils learning remotely.
