Coronavirus: Guidance for Bus Travel
This article will cover the national and local guidance for travelling by bus.
National:
It will become mandatory to wear face coverings on public transport from the 15th June. The government website sets out “that face coverings can provide some small additional protection to fellow passengers and can help people to avoid unknowingly spreading the virus”. Find out how to make your own face covering at this government website.
Public Health England recommends that passengers keep a distance of 2 metres apart where possible, if this is not possible then avoid being close to other people for more than a short period of time. It is also advised to be aware of the surfaces you touch, and avoid touching your face. Read more details on the governments public transport advice here.
Local:
West Yorkshire Metro:
In addition to the government guidance, West Yorkshire Metro is also asking passengers to pay by contactless card payment, wash your hands before and after your journey and allow more time for your journey as services may be full and/or operating at a reduced capacity.
