Event Success!
On Tuesday 17th July, we hosted two cycle events at Capitol Park to promote sustainable travel, in particular cycling and the health benefits associated with active modes of travel.
Johnson & Johnson played host to an event boasting a Dr Bike service and NHS Shared Business Service hosted a velodrome experience. Sowerby Brothers cycle mechanics ran the Dr Bike session and the mechanic provided ‘bike MOTs’ as well as replacing inner tubes and break pads for free! Sowerby mechanics also brought along electric bikes for staff to try. The velodrome experience revealed staff at the NHS’ competitive side as staff cycled as fast as they could to race around a virtual velodrome 250 metre track!
Leeds based heath campaign, OneYOU, attended both events to promote a healthy lifestyle, information regarding nutrition and advice on stopping smoking. There were also free copies of Leeds cycle maps, bike bells, mini repair kits and water bottles.
