Government funding expected to improve walking and cycling routes across England.
The Government is set to boost funding to help local authorities make improvements that enable more people to walk and cycle safely and efficiently, reducing the need to travel by car.
Millions of people in England will benefit from improved walking, wheeling and cycling routes thanks to a £200 million government fund. The funding is set to improve crossings and junctions to increase safety, in consultation with local residents and businesses.
This investment in active travel will grow the economy by improving transport links, boosting local areas and created skilled jobs.
Transport secretary Mark Harper said that “this £200 million investment for hundreds of upgraded routes and paths across the country will help to reduce emissions, boost local economies and create jobs”.
