Half a million £50 bike vouchers available from June

Transport secretary Grant Shapps announced on Friday that half a million £50 bike vouchers will be available to help make neglected bikes road worthy.

On Friday the cabinet minister provided further details on the vouchers initially announced a couple weeks ago.

Shapps said the voucher will “be available from next month (June)… will help up to half-a-million people drag bikes out of retirement” and it would help in “speeding up the cycling revolution, helping individuals become fitter and healthier, and reducing air pollution, which remains a hidden killer”.

More details on how to apply for these vouchers will be provided in due course, but for now there’s no better time to dig out your old bikes and get cycling!
