How to Use Your £50 Bike Repair Voucher
The UK Government has revealed more details on their bike repair voucher scheme, a scheme intended to “drag bicycles out of retirement”.
Up to half a million £50 vouchers will be provided to help people get their bicycles repaired, the government hopes this will encourage more people to cycle rather than take the car.
The scheme is currently open for bicycle businesses to register, members of the public will be able to apply for the vouchers “in the coming weeks”, the government said. Details of how to apply for this scheme will be provided on this website when it becomes available.
Bike owners will be able to find a registered bike mechanic to fix their bike, a map of eligible mechanics will be available on the Energy Savings Trust website. The bike owner will then apply for a voucher and take it with them when they get their bike repaired to use it towards the cost of the repair.
They will then be able to claim the discount from the Energy Saving Trust website which will refund the bike owner on behalf of the government on a weekly basis.
