Plug-in car, van and truck grant to be targeted at more affordable models

The government announces changes to the plug-in car, van and truck grant to aim the grant scheme at less expensive models.

The scheme has been updated to reflect a greater range of affordable vehicles available, allowing the scheme’s funding to go further, and to help more people make the switch to an electric vehicle.

From 18th March 2021, the government will provide grants of up to £2,500 for electric vehicle cars priced under £35,000.

This means that grants will no longer be available for higher-priced vehicles, which are typically bought by drivers who can afford to switch without a subsidy from taxpayers.

With the adjustments to the scheme, there has not been a better time to make the switch!
