Public Transport Guidance
With the lockdown easing and more people returning to work, public transport will be getting busier over the coming weeks. This article will set out the government guidance on how to remain safe on public transport.
A face covering must be worn at all times on public transport in England. Find out how to wear and make a face covering here. Ensure you wash or sanitise your hands before and after touching your face covering.
Before your journey, check out the latest travel advice on your route with your transport operator. Journeys may take longer than usual due to social distancing measures so allow more time for your journey.
If possible travel at off-peak times, use quieter stations and stops, limit the amount of changes between different services, walk for more of your journey, book your tickets online or pay by contactless.
Whilst on your journey ensure you maintain social distancing. Try to maintain a 2 metre distance, if this is not possible maintain a 1 metre distance and take suitable precautions.
The government guidance sets out precautions such as: avoid touching your face, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or the inside of your elbow when coughing or sneezing and touch as few surfaces as possible. View the full list on the government website.
Please wash your hands or use hand sanitiser after your journey.
